RSport Rally Wins 2002 Western Canadian Rally Championship Overall!

RSport Rally driver Scott Trinder & father “Twiz” Bob Trinder finished 2nd overall at the Kananaskis Rally and secured the 2002 Western Canadian Rally Championship overall this November 10, 2002. One month earlier the team secured the Western Canadian Rally Championship in their class (Production4).

Four teams had a mathematical chance of winning the championship. Trinder entered Kananaskis with 44 points and his closest rival Gord Olsen had 40 points. Part way through stage 3 Gord Olsen’s car broke a CV-joint, ending his rally and allowing Scott to slow his pace to ensure a finish.

With the Olsens out, the Trinders had to finish in the top 5 to secure the Championship. The RSport Rally pairing completed Kananaskis 1st in Class (Production 4) and 2nd Overall! “I am totally jazzed…Going into Mountain Trials the points standing was not in our favor. We missed two events in the Championship and those points proved valuable. We were fortunate to win Mountain Trials and elevate back into the Championship hunt and thanks to our ever reliable “Ex-Pat Richard” 98 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS we were able to clinch the Championship” says Scott

RSport Rally has had a successful year. The team has won two Championships in Canada, and has proven to be a formidable competitor in the US SCCA Pro Rally Championship. The RSport Rally team ran as high as 4th Overall at the Wild West International Pro Rally driving for Knight Motorsports Inc. based in Fontana, California. (www.knightmotorsportsinc.com). “This season has been a lot of fun. Scott has done everything he needed to do to win the Championship. We took no unnesasery risks and ran a calculated season. I am ecstatic to have won the Western Canadian co-drivers championship in our class, and look forward to the 2003 season,” says Bob

RSport Rally could not have run the Championship without the help of its ever-supportive sponsors. “I would like to thank Richmond Auto Body for painting the rally car and always being ready to repair any rally damage. Ad-Print “the decal people” for decaling our teams cars for over 10years. Pacific Parts for mostly service truck parts! RMT Contracting. My brothers shop, Three Y’S Machine Shop for all of the car preparation between events. Dragon Optical, and NGK. My father for being an awesome co-driver. I thank you all, and look forward to 2003!” Scott Trinder
