The RSport Rally team completed the Wild West National Pro Rally held in Shelton Washington on September 7-8, 2001.

Driver Scott Trinder with navigator Ian McCurdy finished the event placing 2nd in the Production GT Class and an impressive 10th overall against 70 of North America's top rally drivers, the largest entry ever received in the region! Scott Trinder had driven the car just 20 miles on the HWY to the start of the event for its inaugural RSport Rally run. " Although I had no gravel seat time in the car prior to the event I was confident that the Rocket Rally Team and Dave Clark Motorsports had the car dialed, I was right and the DMS suspension just soaked up all of the bumps and the car handled as expected, I am extremely impressed! Says Scott

The RSport Rally teams objective at the event was to gain valuable NARC (North American Rally Championship) points for Subaru Canada navigator Ian McCurdy. " Our objectives were in mind during the entire rally, we finished and were fortunate enough to gain some valuable points for Ian; Ian is an awesome navigator who is composed and relaxed in the passenger seat---I look forward to rallying with Ian again" says Scott.

Scott Trinder was the first driver other than Subaru Canada driver Pat Richard that Ian has navigated for since he started rallying in 1998. " Scott impressed me with his clean driving style and ability to pace himself throughout the entire rally. This ensured that we would have a solid top ten finish without putting the car at risk" says Ian.

The RSport Rally Team had a few other reasons to pace themselves during the event; a limited tire supply combined with some rough roads meant the team had to drive clean to prevent punctures. RSport crew chief Robert Trinder was on hand at the event to help with service however with the use of only one arm after an accident cut the tendons in his other arm the team was definitely not in a position to complete major car repairs between stages.

The RSport Rally Team's next event is the Pacific Forest rally held in Cache Creek BC on September 15-16, 2001.
