RSport Rally driver Scott Trinder and co-driver Mat Desjardins won Group 2 (two wheel drive open class) in a 1986 Toyota Corolla GTS and placed forth overall at the Merritt Rally Challenge! Scott's brother Adam also drove the Toyota and finished an impressive second in class!

The event was held in Merritt, BC on September 14, 2002 and drew 25 competitors. The rally took place on a parcel of land used for the Merritt Mountain Music Festival. "They have a great network of roads. The location would be ideal for a super special spectator stage close to town" says Scott.

The team encountered drama during the final stage of leg one when Adam found a solid object. Coming into the finish, both wheels were pointing in opposite directions. "I thought a tie rod had gone and that we would be out. Fortunately the 1" steel arm between the steering pitman arms had bent. We were quite lucky there was a 45 minute lunch break and we were able to complete the necessary repairs to continue" says Adam

The RSport Rally team's next event will be the Mountain Trials Rally also held in Merritt, BC this October.
