“The Thunderbird is the ultimate TSD rally and is very tough to win. TSD rally’s are virtually totally based on input from the navigator there is no winging it here!” says Scott. “We have entered in the unlimited class even though our clock and wheel speed is not hooked up to our computer. This means that we are at a substantial technical disadvantage in our class, however, we are in it for fun and will do our best,” says Bill.
Breaking news, the RSport Rally multi championship winning Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS (non turbo) has been sold. The new owner (Keith Morison) will also be competing at this years Thunderbird rally. “I have to give everyone at Richmond Auto Body Collision Plus a HUGE thank you – these guys re-painted the car San Remo red for the new owner. AMPCO Manufacturing (formerly Ad-Print “the decal people”) also went out of their way to customize the car for the new owner with some name decals. “I am sad to see the car go, it was everything that it was built to be – super reliable, event finishing, point eating championship machine with no unreliable power modifications,” says Scott. Scott won the 2004 Western Canadian Rally P4 Championship, 2003 Western Canadian Rally P4 Championship, 2003 Western Canadian Rally Championship overall, came second in the 2004 Western Canadian Rally Championship overall and more in the car. Former owner Pat Richard also won numerous championships in the car, and is currently leading the Canadian National and US National Rally Championships overall.
"I am stoked that the Subaru rally car will continue to run in the Western Canadian Rally Championship. From what I have seen, Keith Morison’s driving techniques are suited perfectly to the Subaru’s handling characteristics. I think he has what it takes to be fast and to continue the successes that this car has enjoyed." New owner Keith Morison is expected to release an announcement in regard to his 2004 season plans shortly.
RSport Rally’s Scott Trinder 2004 plans will be to run a limited calendar while working on securing a Group N or Open Class ride for selected 04 events and a full season in 05. “We went as far as we could go in Production class it is time to move-up. I am in talks to run selected SCCA Pro Rally events this year and hope to secure a full deal for the 2005 Championship’” says Scott.
